The item was exactly as described. Arrived in perfect packaging, in perfect condition. The seller also agreed to refund half of the shipping costs because I ordered two items at the same time. Excellent experience, great job! We joined fifteen adventurous souls searching for a purpose greater than themselves, and our paths intertwined in a story of resilience, hope, and the power of human connection.
After a world ravaged by the long shadow of Covid-19, a spark of compassion was lit within me. Determined to make a difference, I came across a child-sponsored video on a social media platform. I wanted to better understand the reason. Although I was skeptical at first, I decided to take a leap of faith because the organization behind it, World Vision, has a renowned history of transforming lives for over seven decades.

In the wake of the world-shattering Covid-19 pandemic, there is a spark on the horizon! World Vision was planning its first post-pandemic children’s sponsorship trip once the chaos had subsided. Without a shadow of a doubt, I took action and signed up for a trip to Cambodia. But oh no! That excitement almost faded when I found out I had been placed on the dreaded waiting list. Gasp! Will my dreams of embarking on this epic adventure be shattered? Fate has prepared a surprise! A kind soul gave up one spot, opening the door for me to join a mighty league of 14 other hikers!
As the departure date approached, my heart filled with excitement and anticipation. I had a positive feeling that this trip would be an unforgettable experience, full of good fun and spent with fantastic, friendly people. I was looking forward to immersing myself in this journey, wanting to see first-hand the impact our sponsorship and the work World Vision did on changing lives for the better.
In the midst of uncertainty, my eyes were opened to the enormous challenges facing vulnerable children around the world. The pandemic has pushed countless families into poverty, and it is their stories that have touched my soul. The decision to become a child sponsor at World Vision was born from the desire to offer help and extend a hand of hope. Little did I know that this act of kindness would set the wheels in motion for an extraordinary adventure.
United by a shared vision, I was surrounded by an eclectic group of like-minded individuals ready to embark on this life-changing journey. Fifteen travelers, each with their own stories and reasons for joining, came together with a common goal in mind – to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in need. Excitement and nervous anticipation filled the air as we boarded the plane that would take us far beyond the limits of our comfort zones.
Adventurer’s Guide] Adventure Log
In April 2023, when we landed on Cambodian soil, we were surrounded by a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds and smells. The chaotic streets of Phnom Penh pulsated with energy. We found ourselves in a land of contrasts – poverty and resilience, heartache and smiles, and a tapestry of culture that touched the heart.
Our time in Cambodia was not limited to fleeting encounters. Driven by our determination to create lasting change, we have been involved in various social projects implemented by World Vision. The challenges began even before reaching the village as we made the six-hour journey and then boat ride to Sambour. These difficulties reflected the difficulties the community faced in accessing education and necessary facilities.
Upon arrival, we were struck by the village’s isolation and the limited resources available to its inhabitants. It became obvious that their access to help was severely limited. One of the pressing problems was the long and arduous journey that children had to make every day to reach the nearest school. They walked for many kilometers, and their determination was visible despite the distance.
We focused on the kindergarten at Tram Dom Village in Sambour, where we witnessed the harsh reality of the children’s learning environment. The classroom was a modest hut with no floor and no even the most basic amenities, such as a toilet. We discovered that the school consisted of only two levels – kindergarten and grade 1. Interestingly, children who completed grade 1 returned to school year after year because alternative schools with higher grades were located far from their village. Despite the lack of nearby colleges, the children’s determination shone through as they returned to classes year after year. Guided by their resilience, we are committed to creating a nurturing and inspiring learning environment, determined to make a lasting impact.

The most important moment of our trip was meeting the children we decided to sponsor. In a small village nestled among green rice fields, we were greeted by a sea of shy faces that quickly blossomed into bright smiles. Language barriers disappeared as laughter and joy became the common language that brought us all together. From playing games to sharing stories, these precious moments remain embedded in our hearts, reminding us of the profound impact that a single act of compassion can have on a young life.
As our trip to Cambodia came to an end, we realized that it wasn’t just the children who had been transformed. The children we sponsored became part of us, and we became part of their story. Our hearts, once filled with the desire to make a difference, were now filled with gratitude for the profound impact they had had on our lives. We left Cambodia with tears in our eyes, knowing that the bonds we had created would survive borders and time.
As we reflected on this extraordinary adventure, we realized that it wasn’t just about improving the kindergarten, but about building bonds that transcended distance, language and culture. Our journey has become a testament to the power of human compassion and the profound change that can occur when hearts unite for a common goal. While our physical presence may have ended, we are still committed to making a difference. Inspired by the children we have met, we continue to look for ways to maintain our positive influence and support their dreams from a distance. Our journey to Cambodia may be over, but the spirit of compassion and hope that guided us will forever burn brightly in our hearts.
After our visit, we launched a crowdfunding campaign to improve the nursery in Tram Dom Village as part of the Sambour Area Program and the response was nothing short of extraordinary. The outpouring of support from well-wishers has pushed our mission forward, allowing us to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for children. This successful crowdfunding venture not only provided the resources needed to transform the preschool, but also ignited a powerful sense of hope throughout the community. The journey to becoming a child sponsor at World Vision has not only changed the lives of the children we have met, but also transformed us into advocates for a more compassionate world. Inspired by our experiences, we vowed to continue spreading hope, reaching those in need, and bridging the differences that divide us. From this journey of love and discovery, we have learned that no act of kindness is too small and that by coming together, we have the power to create a better future for all.
