We stopped for yet another break, sitting under a few shady places in sight, and listening to each other’s conversations. Each one of us was covered in sweat and grime.
Roaming The Earth: Backpacker Wonders
It is stories like these that motivate me to travel the most. No matter how small you think your travels are compared to others, every mile and every stone you turn will bring you a new perspective. That is true if you allow it.
Travel In Focus: Our 2024 Destination Hotlist
I think there is a special kind of people in this world. Those who live their curiosity in their chest. Those who feel like caged birds begin their minute lives too fastidious. Those who live for new experiences, who observe the world with wondering eyes, and think that every minute detail is absolutely magical.
And these same people often meet on the road, as happened on our journey through Africa.
This far-fetched idea, which first arose, was made of the most heroic things. And suddenly we were there. Looking into the great strata of the Great Distress as if contemplating the soul of our Great Mother Earth. But the real beauty was the people who gathered.
We were all just Mosaic stories — each one of us constructed from mirror fragments — perfectly formed into imperfect human beings. But we were all amazed at the greatness of the earth. People from all over the world, from Asia to South America to Australia. People in all walks of life, from the child to the old man. They were doing something there on vacation. There were accidents there. Others where to refute to refute.

… And yet others were there to soothe a broken heart, as is clear from the lady in white.
Later, when the sun was asleep, we reached a woman dressed in all white. He looked away, wiping tears from his face. The Lady in White was and his mother’s mourning was there. Or, as I prefer, perhaps he was celebrating his mother’s life. Perhaps it had revived the memories that the golden, rusty earth had bound, for without a doubt it could heal at an infinite height.
You see, for you and me the freedom to roam this palm of the earth is such a gift. Whether you are looking for a deeper connection with our country or simply looking for adventure, your answer is there. The only real question left to ask is…
A spontaneous idea, really. We wanted to take the road trip for my birthday, and a heroic 10-day trip through the south: from Seattle to Arizona and back. I will share more about the trip itself in another blog post, but for now I will leave you with the highlights from the Grand Canyon.
Torres Del Paine
We explored both the North & South Rims over the course of 2.5 days. And it was incredible beyond words.
I first saw the Grand Canyon as a child. It was in National Geographic magazine. Young people did not even understand the idea that I would someday look at this giant…
We had no idea how hot it was getting in the afternoon. We each take a bottle of water, and we all drink each one.
I did not plan to wake up at sunrise. I never give But I’m glad my internal clock set off its alarm.
Summer In The San Juans
A wonderful senior couple snapped this photo of us. They liked it so much, they asked us to take one camera for them. Such a sweet couple =)
The southern rim is the most popular part of the Great Narrows, and therefore the most frequented. There have been so many views here! But the North Rim stole my heart. I felt quieter and quieter. Plus, it was very travel friendly, with showers and laundry facilities nearby. I didn’t think I’d say this, but the heat was incredible, I was so grateful.

Next on the list of seven natural wonders of the world is The Grand Canyon. This goliath is located in Arizona in the United States of America. This immense canyon was carved over millions of years by the erosion of the Colorado River. Some recent studies estimate that it was formed more than 17 million years ago.
The canyon is 277 miles (446 kms) long and over a mile (1.83 kms) deep. Although not the largest in the world, the sheer beauty and majesty of the Great Narrows make it one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
