Brave New World: Adventures In The Unknown – Disney has shared a new trailer for its new animated sci-fi adventure film Strange World. The film is directed by Don Hall (
), described the film as “inspired by classic adventure stories”. The story is about three generations of the Clyde family, who overcome their differences as they explore a strange, wonderful and often hostile world.
Brave New World: Adventures In The Unknown
Jake Gyllenhaal stars in the film and voices Searcher Clyde, the son of a determined explorer. The Clades are a legendary family of explorers and “they try to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land with a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog, and ferocious creatures.” Fantastic creatures await this crew “whose differences threaten to topple their latest – and far – most critical mission.”

Speaking previously about the inspiration behind the film, Hall said: “I loved reading the old issues of Pulps growing up. They were big adventures where a group of explorers might discover a hidden world or an ancient creature. They were huge. The inspiration.
The rest of the voice cast includes Dennis Quaid as Jaeger, the searcher’s larger-than-life explorer father; Jabouki Young-White as Ethan, the searcher’s 16-year-old son who yearns for adventure; Gabriel Union as Meridian Clade, an accomplished pilot and the explorer’s partner in all things; and Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s fearless leader who leads the quest into a strange world.

Book Club I think book club is great for discussion except I don’t limit the selection of books. These can be very weird, sometimes challenging, books that are near and dear to my heart.
. Earlier that year, Postman’s son, Andrew Postman, wrote a headline titled, “My Dad Predicted Trump in 1985 – This Is Not Orwell, This Is a Brave New World, He Warns.” The book is a perfect example of how to look at the past if you want to understand the present
, a “slightly older, slightly less known, equally chilling” book. In Huxley’s view, Postman writes, “No Big Brother is needed to rob people of their autonomy, maturity, and history. As he sees it, people love their tyranny, worship technologies that nullify their ability to think.
What Orwell feared were those who banned books. Huxley feared that there was no reason to ban the book, as no one would want to read it. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared that if we give too much, we will descend into passivity and arrogance. Orwell feared that the truth would be hidden from us. Huxley feared that truth would drown in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared that we would become a trivial culture. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate destroys us. Huxley feared that what we love will destroy us.

“This book,” Postman wrote, “is about the possibility that Huxley, not Orwell, was right.” (For a graphic adaptation of the introduction, see this Stuart McMillen comic.)
Postman investigates the changes in our American culture as we move from the age of books, pamphlets, and newspapers to the age of television, or “from the magic of writing to the magic of electronics.” (The first Macintosh was only a year old when the book was written.) He describes our new world as “a peek-a-boo world”:
A peek-a-boo-world, where now this event, now that, appears for a moment, then disappears again. It is a world without much coherence or meaning; A world that does not listen to us, in fact, does not allow us to do anything; A completely self-contained world, like a child’s game of peek-a-boo. But like peek-a-boo, it’s endlessly entertaining.

Well, look, Sam Wilson’s Captain America, he’s going to bring his own team to play with.
