Thomas And Friends The Adventure Begins James – The Adventure Begins 2015 feature-length Thomas & Friends special. It is the tenth Thomas & Friends film overall and is an adaptation of the first two books in The Railway series, which were previously adapted for the first series in 1984. It was created to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the franchise. It was released exclusively in the United States and Canada as a Walmart exclusive and later as an ASDA exclusive in the UK before becoming widely available in all three countries.
The Adventure Begins is a computer-animated retelling of the first seven episodes of the first series of Thomas and Friends, which were based on the first two books in the railway series (The Three Railway Engines and Thomas the Tank Engine). On the island of Sodor, there was a small island known as the North West. There are working engines Edward (the smaller engine, which stops trains for the bigger engines) and Gordon (the biggest engine, which likes to pull the express); Unfortunately, he sometimes has to pull the trigger. One day, Gordon is pulling a freight train and tells Edward that a new engine will arrive soon. Edward was very surprised and curious about this. Gordon explains how the final engine, which has wooden brake blocks, is very small. Suddenly, the engine, James, pulls up in front of them, protesting that he is not small and that there is nothing wrong with his wooden brakes.
The Adventure Begins, But They Went Overboard With The Nostalgia
Gordon continues with his freight train, but when he reaches the main line hill, the trucks push him back and he refuses to try and make it to the top. His driver calls Sidor’s railway director, the Fat Controller through Sir Topem Hutt who sends Edward to push Gordon. Together, they make it to the top of the hill, but Gordon just continues on his way without saying thank you to Edward.
Later, Edward is torn when he hears a voice he’s never heard before. He sees James talking to a Tank Engine, who introduces himself as Thomas, and two Taylor Engines welcome him to Sodor. Gordon arrives and scoffs at Thomas’ claim that he’s really useful for anything more than a shunting coach. As Gordon leaves, Edward apologizes for teasing Gordon and tells Thomas that he is often like that. Edward and James introduce themselves to Thomas before the Fat Controller arrives and orders Thomas to make himself useful and Edward will show him what to do.
Thomas and Edward set shunting trains to work for the larger engines. But throughout the day, Thomas gets himself into trouble by crashing into trucks and taking wrong turns. And even getting in the way of Gordon and James. Later, Thomas puts Detective Gordon to sleep on a siding and wakes him up with a blow of his whistle, leaving Gordon completely cross.
That night, Thomas arrives at Tidmouth Sheds and crawls into the berth next to Edward. He is excited about pulling trains quickly, but Edward knows he has to learn how to pull properly first. Then a nervous big green engine pulls into the shed, wanting to get into its berth quickly before it rains. Edward tells Thomas about Henry, how much he doesn’t like the rain. Edward then tells the story of how a frightened Henry refused to leave a tunnel when the rain ruined his paint. Passengers and even though James could not get him out, the flight controller gave up and left Henry there. A wall was also built in front of this tunnel, as it was now unusable for other engines. Edward begins to explain how Henry finally got out of the tunnel when Gordon flipped his safety valve out of the tunnel, but Gordon stops him, not wanting to embarrass himself in front of the new engine, but claims he wants to sleep.

The next day, Thomas is sent to the Sodor steamworks to be painted in the colors the Fat Controller likes to see on his rail – blue with a red stripe. Thomas shows Edward his colors, as well as his new number one. Both engines tell Thomas about the previous number, which was the coffee pot engine. Edward has a train to catch, so Thomas goes to get Gordon’s express coach, but he accidentally meets two small coaches, belonging to Annie and Clarabelle, belonging to James. Thomas kindly apologized, explaining how he was new. The coaches think he’s a very sweet engine and Annie believes he’ll go far one day.
Thomas spends all day at his job, but it is hard work and he constantly causes problems. Late in the afternoon, James walks in with Annie and Clarabelle and crawls to a stop next to Thomas, who notices a foul smell. It’s coming from James’ woodblock, but James chooses not to pay attention. Thomas sees Henry fetching water and asks him why he’s afraid of the rain, explaining how it’s just water he puts in his boiler and he doesn’t have to worry about it all day. Henry claims that he is usually very happy when the sun rises.
The next morning, Thomas’ fire is slow to start, delaying him bringing Gordon’s coach to the platform. Gordon is still angry that Thomas woke him up by whistling, so when Thomas brings him his coach, Gordon comes up with a plan. As soon as he is picked up, he is quickly removed before the workers have a chance to separate Thomas from the other side of the train. Thomas is forced to run along the express as Gordon taunts him, all the way to Wellsworth. Edward sees the whole thing and is shocked. As the train stops, a tired Thomas stands up and heads to the water tower for a drink. Gordon laughs and continues on his way.
Thomas is hunting later when he sees two very strange looking trucks on a siding. He woke them up, scaring them, wondering what the emergency might be. Annie and Clarabelle explain that the trucks, Judy and Jerome, are the cranes that make up the breakdown train. They tell Thomas that cranes are used to lift things back onto the tracks. James is ready to take the coach, with a baggage train; Thomas once again notices the burning smell, but once again, James pretends that he doesn’t see or smell the smoke, this time the smoke is blowing.

The next morning, Henry is feeling sick, so Thomas thinks he might have a chance to catch Henry’s train. When Henry still didn’t show up, the flight controller decided that Thomas was the only engine available. But Thomas is too excited to listen to the foot controller’s instructions and after hearing a guard whistle for Edward’s train on the other platform, he leaves without his train. He rushes, thinking it is easy to pull the train. He comes to a red signal, where the signalman asks him where his coaches are. Thomas is shocked and very sad that he has missed his train. He arrives back at Cunford, where all the passengers are complaining, and Thomas finally listens to the flight controller’s instructions, but he still feels miserable.
That night, Gordon and James find Thomas’ train story amusing, but Edward feels sorry for Thomas, and asks him if he would like to take his train in the morning; Thomas happily agrees.
The next day, Thomas could hardly contain his excitement. He and Edward make their way to a train of trucks, but Edward tries to warn Thomas of how much trouble the trucks can cause. Thomas feels confident and pulls away, but the trucks try to hold back. As he finally leaves, Edward calls out to Thomas to be careful.
Thomas makes his way along the line, crossing and crossing with trucks. He comes upon Gordon’s heels where he is standing on the big blue engine and struggles to make his way to the top. But as soon as they start walking down the other side, the trucks see their chance. They pushed Thomas hard, causing him to speed down the track. Thomas flies down the lane until he is sent into the Maroon siding and eventually comes to a stop in front of some buffers. The Fat Controller has seen it all and is with both Thomas and Edward. He orders the two engines to remain in the yard until Thomas knows as much about the trucks as Edward.
